Fashion crazy~!

Yet another big-buckle-i-like!

"I had a lot of difficulties speaking in a chinese congregation. All I could say was, "Wo men, Ni men, Ta men, A men!"
~A guy sharing his testimony during Sunday Worship

Ok, I simply dont understand why there are more than 1 person commenting that I am metro... Haha~ at first, I kinda embraced the idea that perhaps I was indeed a metro, by liking to wear floral patterns and slimmer cuts, but as the fad faded off, I realised I am more of a bargain warrior than a spendthrift. I simply treasure my own money and you know, if I dont get to wear a piece I like every other day, wouldnt that be just a waste? Apparently, as I first started on this fashion awareness idea, I spent quite a bit on one piece wonders, many of them not appealing to my taste. I guess by saying this, I am implying that I wont be spending money on clothes anymore. Nah. It only means I take a longer time deciding whether to buy a piece or not. I like trying new things gradually. I am an indie dresser! hahaha~ if YS sees this, he'll probably puke blood.. hahaha

So anyway, when Singapore is hyping up its Fashion Festival this week in line with new spring/summer collection, I thought walking down Orchard Road with my mum (AKA piggybank) would be the good idea last Sunday, while the little demon was having his tuition at Forum Shopping Mall.

Its amazing to see how the fashion apparel changed their wardrobes. Whatever that was from the winter collections were swiped out and replaced with brand new set of clothes from the spring/summer collection. There were many inviting eye candies out there. I took my rounds at Zara, Topman, Guess, Esprit and FCUK. I was very amazed with Zara and Guess, particularly Guess. Well, although their guys wardrobe has shrunk to half of its original size, they have yet amazed me with more big buckle belt design, cool Rock tee-shirts, a pair of blue cardigan and many others. Zara was kinda refreshing as well, with nice raw jeans and tees. Topman was kinda predictable, with an attempt to splash a whole array of colours on their tops. Sadly, it was their cheap skinny jeans which left me a better impression. But with too many of their jeans, I was afraid I may be a walking topman advertisement? Esprit was once again boring with their usual cuts and FCUK was as disappointing as usual. Astonishingly, G-Star, which was a big hype in magazines, weren't very creative either this season.

(By now, if YS has been reading this, he will probably be slamming his head on the table due to my lack of fashion taste)

I left empty handed, with almost buying a pair of black pants and a polo, but my brother was done with tuition and the queue was long and slow. My mum, however, bought a black 2-piece funny complicated top which she said took her a while to wear the thing. It was funny why she selected that particular piece cos it looked rather younger for her. But she got it at a discount, and it was rather cheap, so lucky her.

Took some shots of the stuff i tried on in the wardrobe though.. perhaps trying new styles? haha~ ok, it got to be funny taking a few pictures of myself in a dressing room.. But hey, I like trying out outfits, and if it looks good, then why not buy it at a good deal? You help me judge, and if you think you got better suggestions, then help me! hahahaha~

hmm.. somehow i kinda like this shirt.. perhaps I can go out for a checkered shirt?

Hmm.. I kinda like the cardigan from Guess.. Too bad it costs $95 dollar.. and yep, I know this outfit looks kinda weird.. either need to have a collar shirt or at least a scarf?

I nearly had this! But as i look at it more, it was a relief i didnt get it in the end. The stripes at the sleeve just made it overly-styled. I want a plainer concept.. just the checks in the middle..

Eden's Cafe

Located at Club Street, the restaurant was first recommended by Zozo, who came across this place on a website. We later met up to try out the food over there.(together wif plin and zh). The food was excellent for its price. I remembered having the pasta, which the sauce was fantastic. Makes me want to go back there the 2nd time. That was in February, shortly after Chinese New Year.

We went to the same place the 2nd time.. Just to try out the desert. Since we have tried out the Ganache, Molten Chocolate cake.. The Cheese Flio, we decided to try their past signature dish, the hibiscus soft cheesecake, and their current one, Banana Oreo Cheesecake. Personally, I prefer the Hibiscus more than the current one, as its texture was smooth and the taste of cheese explodes in your mouth in a gradual way. Too bad i didnt take a picture of it. I did take a picture of the rest of the deserts. Nice pictures..

OREO BANANA CHEESECAKE~~~ NICE CHOCOLATE PATTERN!

Chocolate Praline! Looks Good~~~

Amazingly, the owner of the restaurant is an old boy from St. Gabriel's.. Beat that..

Kayaking Expedition No. 1

"The horseshoe crab will mate in this season.."
~Old uncle catching horseshoe crabs at Punggol Jetty. He would grab them by the tail with his son pinning it onto the ground with a stick.

Bryan, Leon and I decided to kayak on a Saturday morning. Initially, we intended to kayak to Seletar Camp, but with only 4 hours to spare, the time needed to travel there could well take a whole day just to get there. So after some advice from the experienced kayakers in the office, we have decided to go to Puggol Jetty instead. The total package (kayak (4 hours) + splay cover) was about $11. So with eager spirit, we headed for the sea and started paddling northwards.

The going there was a lot tougher than the way back, simply because we were always anticipating when we could finally reach our destination. It could also hav been the fact that we were quite close to the shore, and with every wave pushing us closer to it, we need the extra effort to push ourselves out of there.

Along the way, we stumbled upon Coney Island, the so called only "natural beach" found in Singapore. When we were there, it was rather disappointing. With litter all over the place from the Malaysian Port, and with the facilities not being well-maintained, we were contemplating whether if Mas Selamat could have camped on this super deserted island. It could well be a perfect hiding spot as there was no way of getting in other than by kayak or by boat.

We finally managed to reach the jetty at 11.30am. And boy were we relive to see it. Grabbing the only bottle I have, I decided to ask the police coast guard whether if they have any water to spare. AND THEY TOLD ME THEY WERE NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE US ANY WATER... That really stunned me. I mean, if they were police officers, shouldnt they be helping the citizens of singapore? I wasnt asking a Mac Donald's meal or a ride home, it was one of the most essential things for survival; water, and they gave a glaring stare at me, like as if I could well have been Mas Selamat. (well, I did look tanner, but thats besides the point :D) But I thank God water was provided for us and we werent as parched on the way back.

The trip had been a great experience. Being our first expedition, it really could tell how much we can handle. Our next expedition could well take place in the week to come, and our next destination would be to Changi Sea Sports Club, or even somewhere more exotic? Who knows what the future lie ahead of us..
haha~ tried to carry the kayak.. but silly me, the thing was filled wif water :P

Zoo visit 19032008

Bye bye Thambi!
On the faithful day which Thambi, Wakabi Cheeky Monkey, The Great Khali, Crazybaby, Dustman, SWO Vasanthan (30 years in the army) before he left for India on Thursday, I have decided to bring him to a zoo. For almost 2 years in army, he has never been to any of Singapore's tourist attraction, even though he is a foreigner. And yet, he has served NS, and now as he go back, is he not going to take back anything at all? That was when I have decided to take a day off to bring him around one of the best zoos in the world, the Singapore Zoo.

We met at Ang Mo Kio interchange, taking a bus down to the zoo. For starters, the "zoo" offered to take a picture for us at the entrance. Later, we found out that those pictures were taken from an external company, costing $18 each, something which I can do for $10 or even less? Thambi bought it anyway. I could always get a digital copy from him when he's back in India. Moving on, we walked around the whole zoo, covering every corner of the park. We visited otters, white tigers, hippos, kangaroo, baboons, giraffe, seal, lion, slow lorris, cheetah, polar bear, finally ending at 2+.

Was fun enjoying time with him one last time. The next time we would meet could well be the next year, when he has to reapply his passport. Perhaps then we could get the whole platoon down together? There will be no goodbyes in this world :)
