Kayaking Expedition No. 2

Once again, Leon, Bryan and I set off to yet another kayaking expedition; this time is from Pasir Ris to Changi Jetty. The distance was somewhat similar to Punggol jetty, which is 5.3km respectively. We started off good, pushing out at high tide when current movement was at a standstill, making it the best time to kayak. It was at the same time quite dangerous as well, as many of the cargo ships were moving around this narrow strait. On one occasion, a freight ship was even heading in our direction and we had to paddle with all of our energy to get away from the faster moving craft. The waves that come after the ship was even more exciting, as our kayak flew over every successive wave.

We passed by the Loyang Jetty, Hendon Camp, the Yacht Club and finally arriving at the coast of Changi Beach. Opposite was the ever-so-busy Changi Jetty with plenty of its bunk boats. We had our lunch by the beach. It was Changi's famous nasi lemak (ok, one of the famous). The rice was fantastic and the chilli was sweet and shiok. It also came with an egg, chicken wing and ikan bilis. To top it up with a sugar cane drink, it was a satisfying lunch.

On our way back, we spent most of the time fighting against the current, sometimes taking a break, only ending up where you last paddled 2 minutes ago. But when we finally arrived by the shore, it was just nicely at 2pm. Suntanned and exhausted, it was yet another fulfilling kayak day. Who's up to kayak to Pulau Tekong? :P
